Jeffrey W. Lockett, a native of Houston, accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of nine while attending First John Baptist Church, and from that early age, God\u2019s calling on his life was unmistakable. As a teenager,\r\n he taught Sunday School, participated in Men\u2019s Fellowship Bible Study, and faithfully attended services, showing a heart for ministry even in his youth.<\/p>\r\n

After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and quickly advanced to the rank of Sergeant, becoming the youngest Marine in a supervisory role within his unit. Though it appeared a long military career lay ahead, God\r\n had other plans.<\/p>\r\n

Upon his honorable discharge and return to college, Pastor Lockett fully surrendered to the call to preach in 1987, delivering his first sermon\u2014a moment that led both his sister Cheryl and Jackie, his future wife, to recommit their\r\n lives to the Lord. He and Jackie were married the following year and served faithfully in their local church until, in 1996, God led their young family to the Washington, D.C. area. The transition was difficult, but in God\u2019s providence,\r\n Pastor Lockett was brought to Crossroads Baptist Church in Virginia, a ministry dedicated to training men to plant New Testament Baptist churches. There, he served in the Homeless Ministry, preached regularly, led his family in faithful\r\n church involvement, and served as principal of the Christian academy, all while studying at the COEBA Institute of Theology to further prepare for ministry.<\/p>\r\n

In December 2006, he was ordained, and in January 2007, he was sent to plant Heritage Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, where he has now served faithfully for over 20 years. Pastor Lockett remains a powerful example of godly submission,\r\n leadership, and faithfulness, and we thank God for the servant He continues to use to lead and guide His people.<\/p>\r\n
